Last summer, we were blessed to meet and support Pastor John Rutsindintwarane, who serves his fellow citizens in Rwanda. Pastor John is part of PICO National Network (People Improving Communities through Organizing) www.piconetwork.org. He teaches village leaders to dream, plan and build their own trades and infrastructure, which will bring progress to their war-ravaged nation.
The process is simple. Through faith-based organized leaders, teams are developed to unite their neighbors in solving the most basic needs of any community. The people research solutions, take action, hold themselves and others accountable, and get results. For example, a rural, isolated village worked together to build a 38 room clinic. Then they worked to bring water supply to the clinic. Another village developed a business of making and selling much needed roofing tiles to replace their thatched roofs. Please contribute generously to PICO/RWANDA this summer to encourage Rwandans to help themselves and improve their own quality of life. A poster and donation basket will be available in the Fellowship Room for your information and generosity. ~ Membership & Missions Committee
